Is it the last days for 24?

It is being rumoured that fox is planning to announce the cancelation of the hit show “24”.  Key sources have suggested that rising cost to produce the show and falling ratings make it a very probable choice to cancel the show.

In an interview with Carlos Bernard speaking to the internet magazine Digital Spy, he was quoted saying "I do, honestly [think season eight will be the last]. It's pretty hard creatively to find ways of topping yourself season after season, but we've gone for eight so far, so who knows? Regardless I think we're going to have a very good season this year."

The good side is that it will probably open the door to help push the movie that has been talked about for the last two years, which means any loose ends that have not been tied up, will be.

One of the main reason for the movie not being pushed before is the film scheduling, to have the series and a moving filmed at the same time is a scheduling nightmare, between actors and other staff.

But considering  20th Century Fox's film division has  already hired State of Play and Flightplan screenwriter Billy Ray to come up with a script, which would reportedly see Jack Bauer fight terrorists in Europe, it would suggest that they do now see the possibility of the movie going ahead.

Since premiering in 2001, 24 has won 18 Emmys, including Best Actor for Kiefer Sutherland in 2006 and Best Supporting Actress for Cherry Jones in 2009.
